Welcome to the New York City Downtown Boathouse Welcome to the Downtown Boathouse. The Boathouse is an all-volunteer organization that is dedicated to providing access to the Hudson River for everyone. The Boathouse is located in the Hudson River Park, and has a permit from the Hudson River Park Trust to operate in the park. During the past 10 years we have had over 100,000 different people use the Boathouse, for approximately 250,000 trips on the Hudson. We expect a record year in 2008. We run the following free programs: walk-up public kayaking, kayak trips on the harbor, evening classes, and a winter swimming pool program. We also make our facilities available to the general public for the launching of small hand powered boats
